Sunday Fobby Supper

As a twist to our usual Sunday Whitey Suppers, Vyl hosted a Sunday Fobby Supper tonight. It was some real Chinese home cookin’ complete with wintermelon, pig’s ear, fermented veggies, and tofu. It was all pretty tasty and Jack especially enjoyed the tofu.

Bang also got to show off his new entertainment set-up including a huge HDTV, PS3 Blu-Ray Player, and Apple TV.  Dinner also wouldn’t be complete without a fobby dessert, which was sesame balls in a sweet ginger broth.  Yum.

So, I guess next week will be my turn ‘cuz they’re requesting Thai food. Here are photos from this evening.

Ahoy, land lubbers!

Jes and I went to The Festival of Sail today. The actual village was total crap and it didn’t feel like much of a festival but we got to board a few tall ships, which were pretty interesting.

One of my favorites was the pirate ship. It was built for The Pirates of the Caribbean movie but there’s an actual crew that sails it around the world. Not only did we walk on the deck but they let us explore down below where the galley and sleeping quarters are. Apparently you can take a ride from SF to Hawaii on this ship. Ugh…that makes me sick just thinking of it. I would make a pretty lousy pirate. Yar. Here are some photos.

Morning Walk

This morning as I was putting on my shoes to take Koa for his am walk, I got a call from Michelle who was out with Jack. So, we met up at the ballpark and took a very pleasant walk down Embarcadero with Koa on a leash and Jack in his stroller. It was a beautiful Saturday morning in SF and we all got a nice long walk. I brought my new camera with me and got a couple of shots in.

Jack got a kick out of watching Koa doing his “business” and I got a cute shot of his two new bottom teeth.

I’m a little giddy…hee hee.

Today couldn’t feel any longer. Not because I had a full work week and I woke up tired this morning. Nope. It’s because I went on Amazon this morning and the tracking status said “Out for Delivery”. Awesome!! My new toy was on its way and I had to get home in time to sign and receive the package. So, at 4:30 pm, I hurried home, walked the dog with lightning-fast speed, and waited. The doorbell rang at 6:00 pm and I ripped through that box like it was Christmas.

I now have my very own Nikon D300!!! Woohoo!!! Of course, I had to wait another hour for the battery to fully charge so I patiently waited and read the 400-page manual. Once it was charged, I popped it in and got it all set-up for a weekend of snappin’.

Dear Trusty D70s,
You have served me well for the past three years and it’s time to take some time off. I will still need to hold on to you but you can kick up your feet until our next wedding gig. Thanks for the memories.

I miss home.

Brother and Joy came up a couple weekends ago and it reminded how much I’ve missed home and the people I’ve left behind. I had a brilliant plan for my return to Southern California back in June and then it was foiled by my wedding fiasco that weekend. So, it’s been about 4 months since I’ve been home and I’m itching to go back. I’ll be back from August 7-9 for a wedding but I’m not sure it will be enough for me. I think it’s time for me to ask for some time off and book a flight for a random weekend in SoCal. And here are the photos from a couple weekends ago.

Wednesdays

I like Wednesdays. It’s not because half the week is done but because it’s the day that Jes and I go out to eat. On some days we go all out and try a new fancy restaurant. On some days we just go out to a local restaurant. Regardless, it’s an excuse for us to not make a mess of the kitchen and to be gluttonous.

Last night, we decided to go somewhere local and it happened to be a game night too. So, we hung out at Paragon at one of their outdoor tables and watched the crowd come through. It was a sunny, breezy afternoon with blue skies and I had a nice cool glass of Riesling and a hot steamy bowl of mussels sitting in front of me. Ahh…that certainly hits the spot.
