Alameda Afternoon

DSC_2921On Sunday we met up with the Agustins.  For lunch we went to Hang Ten, which is a Hawaiian place that is more like a crab boil complete with bibs and butcher paper on the tables.

IMG_4298 DSC_2919We had quite the feast that day including whole crab, fried catfish, seasoned fries, garlic noodles, mac salad, rice, kalbi, and spam musubi.

IMG_4280DSC_2923 It was all delicious and the two little girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

IMG_4285After lunch, we went wine tasting at Rock Wall.

IMG_4292We didn’t buy any bottles that day but I had fun hanging out with little Zoe.

DSC_2949It’s on an old naval base with a great view of the city and Bay Bridge.  It’s oddly cool to be in such a unique location.

After the tasting, Jimmy bought us a round of wine and we sat outside for the rest of the afternoon.IMG_4294We had a good time enjoying the sun, sipping wine, and letting the kids hang out and share snacks with each other.

They also had some cute games and some sidewalk chalk out there for your enjoyment.DSC_2962 DSC_2966

It was a fun afternoon with some good friends.  Thanks for taking us around, Agustins!

Berkeley

IMG_7860This morning I got a text from Mirian saying that Karla had a rash and a fever.  Initially, Jes thought he could stay home with Kumquat but the hesitation in his voice made me think it wasn’t going to work out.  So, I called in sick and felt so bad for having to canceling my appointments today but I just had to do it.  Once everything was settled, I texted Steph to see if she was free for the day.  We met up at the Berkeley campus area for lunch and a special treat.  It was cool being in that area again after all these years.  I spent a summer there and numerous days and nights visiting everyone there on the weekends.

IMG_4224I took a photo of Kumquat in front of the Golden Bear and sent it to Dayantha just for good times’ sake.

IMG_4231IMG_4228After lunch, we stopped at CREAM for ice cream sandwiches.   IMG_4234Kumquat wanted a bite but I didn’t give her any. She’ll have to wait until she’s a bit older. IMG_4235It’s like Diddy Riese and a sandwich was only $2!  I got double chocolate chip cookies with coffee ice cream in between.  Yum.

It was so nice to see Stephanie and Vivian today.  Too bad we don’t get more days like this.

10K Finish

IMG_4180This morning, I finished my first post-Kumquat 10K.  Ranee also ran with me and it was her very first 10K ever!  Woot!

IMG_4147Chris ran his first 1/2 marathon in 1 hour 30 minutes!!  Amazing!

IMG_4194It was early and cold but we had a strong finish and our official chip time was 1:04!

IMG_4156Patty also ran the 10K and we found her at the finish.

IMG_4190Here’s the blinged-out medal.

IMG_4159The finish was on the field again but not over home plate this time.

IMG_4161I was also very happy to see Kumquat and Jes out there to greet me at the finish.  It was pretty early for both of them so kudos to both of them!

The Lees

IMG_4009I got an email from Linda the other night and found out that she was bringing the family up for a weekend trip.  So, we made arrangements to meet up at the Farmer’s Market this morning.  It was so fun to see them all again and the boys are getting so big!  I can’t believe Jonah is almost 9.  I met him on his first day of life out in Illinois when I happened to be in Chicago that week!  Time has really flown by.  So great seeing all of you!!

Too early…

I’ve had a really eerie couple days.  Two lives were taken away from us way too soon.

P1090022DSC_6703On Wednesday night, Smush passed away from a really unfortunate incident involving a neighbor’s dog in the hallway.  I’m still in shock about the whole thing and I can’t imagine what Susie’s going through right now.  Have a good time in Doggie Heaven, Smush.  Say “hi” to Pepsi, Doogie, and Cookie for me.

DSC_6782On Thursday night, my hula instructor and friend, Pua, lost his battle with cancer.  I knew that he was getting treatment but he was always in such good spirits.  It’s so surreal since I just bumped into him a couple weeks ago at Safeway.  Rest in peace, Pua.  You will be missed.

Days like these make me realize how every day is so precious.  Hug your loved ones a little tighter today.

Baby Vivian

DSC_2292This morning after a 4-mile run with Ranee, I stopped at Stephanie’s house to take some portraits.  Vivian is about 10 days old now and I got some photos taken of her with her parents.

DSC_2247DSC_2249I also got a photo of her with her Pittsburgh Steelers beanie and “terrible towel”. What a cutie pie.
