Happy Father’s Day!

For Father’s Day, we took out both dads to Gladstone’s in Long Beach. The night started out just fine until we realized that we were sitting around waiting for our food for over an hour. The manager repeatedly came over to our table to apologize and gave us 50% off the check. That was cool. When the food finally came, I actually wasn’t that hungry anymore. But my dad certainly was. He had ordered the Father’s Day Clam Bake special for 2 and with his bib on, he went to town! There was crab, lobster, clams, and a bunch of other stuff I couldn’t see from the other end of the table. Overall, the meal was satisfactory and it was nice to be with the family. Our gifts weren’t too shabby either. I got my dad a pedometer to record all the walking he does with his buddies and my brother got him an Elvis book and even got it signed by Priscilla Presley. Nice job, brother! Jes offered to get his dad golf lessons but it got shot down. I guess he won’t be getting rid of his dusty golf clubs after all. Instead, we got him two tickets to the Long Beach Aquarium.

Happy 30th, Patty!!

This Saturday was Patty’s 30th Birthday! Johnny planned a little BBQ with all the fixings and we had a nice time eating, drinking, and catching up with old friends. Holly drove down with us, Patti and Howard were there sans Katie, and Joanne Tan was also there. We also saw some unexpected people. Sheree Shen was there with her husband and she’s expecting a baby soon…4 more months, I think. I hadn’t seen her since high school! I also met two of Patty’s friends who actually live down the street from me. That was kinda funny.
Their backyard is still under construction but the fire pit was done and was very cool. Mochi and Koa had a gay ol’ time chasing each other and jumping around the obstacles. They also went hunting for left overs on the floor, which made Koa throw up a ball of crap on the way home. That was not so cool.

Happy Mother’s Day!

We had a family-filled day to celebrate Mother’s Day. First was lunch at The Arches Restaurant in Newport Beach with my mom and the rest of the family. We had some yummy, yet pricey, stone crab and Jes finally found his tableside Caesar Salad.
After an afternoon nap, Jes and I took his mom to dinner at Arte Cafe in Cerritos. They had a decent lobster bisque and his mom enjoyed the catfish. The nicest thing about today was just being with family. We hadn’t seen either set of parents for a few weeks and they were all happy to see us.

Happy 30th, Jimmy!

It’s J’s big three-O today! Has it been almost 16 years since we met back at Whitney orientation?! My, how time flies! Happy Birthday, big guy. Have a great weekend and have a drink for me!!

Bring on the margaritas!!

After a hard day at work and a crazy hill run, there’s nothing like a bowl of chips and guac paired with a cold margarita. In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, we’re making tacos with all the fixings and drinking margaritas until we fall asleep on the couch.

4 days HAS to be a record

My brother and I took care of our Mother’s Day stuff today and were mighty proud of ourselves. It isn’t unusual for us to call each other on the day before Mother’s Day or Father’s Day asking, “Uh, did you get something for Mommy yet?” Well, this year, he made reservations AND bought the gift today – and it’s only Wednesday! Nice. I also made dinner reservations for Jes’ mom and we also took care of her gift on Monday. What is going on?! Now I can see why people don’t procrastinate! We should get crackin’ on Father’s Day…heh.
