Lights and Ice
Last night we went out to Embarcadero Center once again for Light-up Night. We started at Osha Thai for drinks and dinner while the buildings lit up and the fireworks went off.
Then we headed over to the Hyatt where we admired the lights and hung out at the bar for a few more drinks. Initially I was missing my usual glass of wine but we had so much fun laughing and making fun of each other that I ended up not missing it at all.
The night ended with even more laughs when Matt and Patty decided to put on ice skates at the rink nearby. Patty’s been taking lessons this past year and Matt was just really pumped about the skating. So, they strapped on the skates and took a spin.
It was quite a show watching Matt slip and slide around the rink in NOT the most optimal state.
He took a few crazy spills but this morning he reported back with just a sore palm and a raging headache. I guess this is the beginning of the holiday season and I’m glad that I was able to enjoy it with my friends.
Here are a few more photos.
On Tuesday evening, I hung out with Jack while his parents went out to dinner. We started out eating dinner: hamburger for me and cheeseburger for him. I also got fries and mcnuggets to share. It’s funny hanging out with a 4-year-old. You can actually have a conversation and he’s somewhat reliable. He’s been sleeping upstairs ever since Reese took over his crib but he’s supposed to be sleeping in the big boy bed downstairs soon. I didn’t know how that was going so I asked him “Are you sleeping in the big boy bed tonight?” He replied, “No, it’s not Friday.” I was a little confused so I texted Ryan and he was right. I guess he only sleeps in the bed on Fridays for now. Haha. Cute.
When it was actually time for bed, I told him to brush his teeth. On our way upstairs, he said, “I need my P.” That’s the nickname for his pony blanket. It’s the pony blanket he’s slept with since he was a baby. So after he brushed his teeth, we went on an epic hunt for P. After a good 15-minute search upstairs and downstairs, I texted Ryan again (sorry dude) and he said that P2 was stored in Reese’s room. Aaah…yes! Thank goodness for the backup pony. When I handed it to Jack, there was a quick sniff inspection and then it was off to bed. Mission Accomplished.
I’m officially
Here’s what I see from my perspective. The wide camera angle makes me look HUGE! Not sure I’m looking forward to the day that I won’t be able to see my feet.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted food on beakatude. We had really nice weather this weekend so it was the perfect opportunity to go out and eat! On Saturday morning, we walked to the Farmer’s Market and I opted for the kimchee fried rice with an egg on top from
Later that day, we had some errands to run so we stopped for a carnitas burrito at
Today, we did a little shopping in Union Square so for lunch we stopped at
I basically went to work in my regular work pants on but left the top button undone and then slipped the BeBand over it to hold up my pants. With a t-shirt over it, it just looked like I was wearing 2 layered t-shirts and I was so much more comfortable. On Friday, I wore it again on top of my new maternity pants that are still a little too big and I didn’t have to keep pulling my pants up all day! Genius.
Last night (11/9/11 @ 11 am Bangkok time), while I was out at dinner, I got two calls; first my mom called and then my brother called. It was to tell me that my Grandma in Thailand just passed away. It sounds like she was in the hospital for some time already and she was struggling to breathe and being fed by a G-tube. My dad had just arrived in Thailand over the weekend and I’m so glad that he made it in time to see her on her last days. He said that she left us peacefully.
