Close Call

On Friday afternoon, Dayantha and Krissy arrived in SF and we all met up for Happy Hour that evening.  After a few hours at Sens, we all went to dinner at Chaya to celebrate Jimmy’s promotion.  Thanks for dinner, J!  Afterward, we stopped at Jimmy and Jes’ building to pick up their belongings and we got to check out Jimmy’s new window office.  He’s a big boss now and had all his stuff moved into the office with a view of 1st and Howard that day.  We were so proud.

Once it was time to head home, Jimmy offered the four of us a ride back to our place.  Just around the corner from the office, we waited at a red light and happened to be next to a CHP car.  I had a bad feeling about it and my feeling was right.  As soon as we made the left turn, we were pulled over.  The car was full and all of us in the backseat weren’t buckled in since the drive to our house was only a mile away.  Jes had to roll the window down in the back and the officer asked us why were weren’t wearing our seat belts.  The officer also smelled the booze on all of us and poor Jimmy had to get out of the car for a little “testing”.  Luckily he passed but I was ready for both Jes and I to get cited for not buckling up.  Fortunately, the officer (who looked half our age) was nice enough to let us off with warnings.  This night of celebration could have turned terribly sour if Jimmy got a DUI and multiple tickets for our laziness.

Congrats on the promotion and sorry for the scare, Jimmy!  We can take a cab next time!
