beakatude is online

dsc_7829.jpgMr. Internet came by today to hook us up. We are now connected and I won’t have to go down to the 4th floor lounge. It’s so nice to be back online.

I also ventured out into the city today to run some errands and rode on the T Train for the first time. There’s a stop right across the street from our condo so for $1.50, I hopped on and got off at Powell St., which is right under the Nordstrom! When all was done, I hopped back on with the same pass and rode back home for free.  Apparently you can ride Muni all you want within a 90-minute window. I also found this site called NextBus, which has real-time predictions of when your next train is expected to arrive. Neato.

My parents are driving up with their mini-van filled with our belongings and Koa. On Thursday, the movers are coming with the rest of our things. I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed again. It’s been over a month now and my back is really paying for it.

I’m a melter.

We had a fun time in Sequoia this weekend. The weather was much more pleasant than I had anticipated. The weather forecast said it was supposed to be 100 degrees but it wasn’t. The campsite was convenient and had lots of shade. We also got to see lots of really big trees. We visited Auto Log, Tunnel Log, and the General Sherman Tree. I also learned how to play Blokus, which Ryan brought on the trip. Jes hiked 6 miles with the Bangs while I stayed behind with the Sokol-Juns for a mini-hike to some little pools in the stream nearby and played 4 games of Blokus. On Saturday afternoon, as we were touring the different tourist sites, we stopped at Auto Log and I used my little Canon digi to help prop up Michelle’s camera for a group photo. When the photos was taken, I forgot to take it back grab the camera and I didn’t realize it was missing until we were at the next site. To my dismay, it was gone by the time we drove back to the site…*sniff* Oh man, Jes was really mad at me and I was kicking myself the rest of the day. I’m still kicking myself. I filed a report at the Lost and Found but I doubt it will show up. Boo…it had some cool photos that Jes took on his 6-mile hike.

So we’re back in our condo with no furniture, no appliances, and no internet. I’m in the 4th Floor clubhouse again trying to upload some photos. This might take a while.

Oh yeah, it sprinkled today! I can’t believe it was at least 90 degrees in Fresno but in the low 60s as we drove into the SF area.

UPDATE:  Here are the photos from our camping trip.

a camping we will go

We are on our way to Sequoia for our annual camping trip with the Bangs and Sokol-Juns. It should be a hoot. I just hope it isn’t too hot out there. We will be back Sunday. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Home Sweet Home

dsc_7481.jpg

I picked up the keys this morning and unloaded the X3. We are officially moved in!! This morning, I packed up all our stuff and cleaned up the guest bathroom and bedroom at Jimmy’s house. At 1:30, I picked up the keys and garage door opener from the HOA and started bringing stuff up to our unit. After about three trips back and forth, I thought, “This is dumb. I wish I had a dolly.” Then, it dawned on me that there were a bunch of maintenance guys down in the garage just sitting around. I almost asked if they would help me move but instead I asked if they had a dolly or cart that I could borrow. Luckily, they were very nice and gave me a flatbed cart that totally saved me. I managed to move the rest of my stuff (about 75% of the car) up in two trips! Awesome. So, now we are in the 4th floor club house using the free WiFi. Our condo is still empty with the Aerobed set-up in the bedroom. Jes just ordered our fridge and washer/dryer online and we have no idea when our movers are coming with our belongings. Until then, we will be in Sequoia this weekend. Vyl and Bang are picking us up in the morning for a nice 6-hour drive into the forest. It certainly feels a bit weird to actually have a place to call home again but it’s great. We are officially city-folk ready for a new adventure!!

House Rules

dsc_7478.jpg

This morning I got up, ironed Jes’ shirt, and then plopped myself down on the couch for the rest of the day. Jimmy had some work to do before going to the dentist at lunchtime so we hung out side-by-side all morning. Before he left, he looked at me and said, “Did you wear that to sleep last night? If you did, you have to change your clothes today.” Huh? Yep, apparently it’s a house rule because he “[doesn’t] run a sloppy house”. So I followed the rule by not only changing once but TWICE. Jimmy cracks me up.I pretty much spent the day taking care of a bunch of things. Most of them were related to finances. Since we are expecting to close tomorrow morning, I went online and changed our billing and mailing addresses for all our accounts and also worked on our new budget. Also, in an effort to minimize paper waste and things we have to file, I made sure we had paperless statements for everything. It’s the least I can do to declutter our new home.

This afternoon I went for a run along the bay. The neighborhood is so cute and has a pretty nice running trail along the water. I took my GPS and measured a 2.4-mile loop. I think I can actually add more distance if I go out farther before returning to the house.

feeling homeless

dsc_7475.jpgI went into the city today in hopes of signing the loan docs on our new condo in the morning. Unfortunately, the bank was dilly-dallying and so I spent all day just hanging around with nothing to do but wait for a phone call from Jes.

My day of wandering started when I picked up a sandwich and coffee and ate on some random steps in front of a building. Luckily there were other people doing the same so I didn’t totally stand out. Later I roamed around and checked my email at the Apple Store. Once that got old, I walked over to the Ferry Building to check it out. I’d never been there before and was pleasantly surprised at all the cute little shops they had there.

For lunch, I met up with Susie. We had pho and it was tasty. Afterwards, I headed south of Market where I found a cool Cartoon Art Museum on Mission & New Montgomery and strolled that for a little bit. By then, my feet were getting tired so I thought I’d find a good place to set-up camp. I contemplated taking a nap in the park but decided to walk around the Metreon. Luckily, I found the food court where they had free WiFi. Sweet! Ah, a place to sit down. After about an hour, I was getting sleepy and was very tempted to put my head down. I felt like such a bum.

Finally at 3:30, Jes called and said to meet him on 1st St. We went to get some cashier’s checks and then to the title company. We finally signed the papers this afternoon around 4:30 and it felt so good to have it done. If all goes according to plan, we should be picking up our keys on Thursday. Yay!

Afterwards, Jes decided to go back to work so I took the bus home. On my way home, I realized that I didn’t get the house key from Jes. So, here I am, sitting on Jimmy’s front porch, surfing the internet, and waiting for Jes to come home. I can’t wait to have a place of my own.
