the streak is broken

UCLA beats USC

After seven years of losing to USC, we not only upset (13-9) the Trojans but kept them from going to the National Championship! Awesome. I guess crossing all of my fingers and toes really worked this time. Haha. Yay Bruins!!

Dog can catch.

After our morning walk, Koa ran around the house looking for his ball. He brought it over to me and we started playing the usual toss-the-ball-and fetch game. Well, I bounced the ball on the floor and he caught it in mid-air! I thought, “Hm, that was probably a fluke.” So I did it again and he caught it again! I had to get it on video so I could show off his new trick to the world. (Click on the photo above.) You’ll need QuickTime in order to play the video.

Yay Bruins!

It’s rivalry weekend and UCLA is playing USC.  It might be a fun game to watch but I’m going to have to cross my fingers and toes for them to win.  Fortunately, I prefer watching college basketball and we’re ranked No. 1 in the AP poll this year.  Woo hoo!  Good luck Bruins!!  F*ck ‘SC!

Just a few drops.

ch951125a.gifI feel so duped. It finally rains after a yucky dry spell and it only gives us 3 inches of snow in Mammoth! The forecast calls for sunny skies for the rest of the week too. Now how am I supposed to go skiing in these conditions exactly? Meanwhile, Whistler had a record November and Colorado and Utah are getting some snow too. This better not last much longer or I’m going to have to fork over the money to hang out in Mormon Country. At least it’s freezing cold at night and it’s the perfect time to try out the new favorite jacket that I just bought online. I love cold weather (not freezing weather) and simply do not appreciate hot (especially humid) weather. So much for living on a tropical island. Perhaps Switzerland or Northern France is a better place to call home. My perfect day: sunny skies and 55 degrees.

Ready to go back to work?

The worst part of long weekends is going back to work.  I’ve had a good balance of holiday busyness and socializing mixed with laid back stay-in-your-pjs time.  I enjoyed good food, good company, and some really good R&R.  The house is clean, the laundry is done, and I managed to finish six reports too!  Now that’s productivity!!  The best part of going back to work tomorrow is that it’s supposed to rain.  I hope it pours!  The weather has been really nice and cold lately and I’m loving it.  Now if only it would snow in the mountains so it’ll be ready for me by January.

the birdhouse has lights

Today we put up Christmas lights on the birdhouse. The shopping centers and malls all have their decorations up so I might as well do the same.

An hour after putting the lights up, I returned the ladder to the neighbor and packed up the boxes. I also went out to the store to buy some kibble. When I got back, I went upstairs to get the dog but he wasn’t there. I looked in every room and he was nowhere to be found! My thoughts raced. I must have left the door open when I was returning the ladder! I grabbed the leash and ran outside to look for him. As I walked around the neighborhood calling his name, I couldn’t help thinking of all the bad things that could have happened to him…”What if a coyote got him?” “What if he got hit by a car?” “What if someone found him and they’re not going to give him back?” It was also the one day that he wasn’t wearing his tags too. I had just put on a brand new red collar on him and hadn’t moved the tags over yet. DOH!! I was on the verge of tears. I had no luck so I came home and took the car around. Luckily I found him just up the street wandering around. I called his name and he came running. Phew! That was close. I gave him a big hug and drove him home with a big sigh of relief. As soon as we got home, I put his old collar back on and fed him. Man, that sucked.
