I’m a total idiot.

This weekend was going to be a well-choreographed endeavor for me. I was supposed to fly down to LA on Thursday night, catch up with friends and family on Friday, shoot a wedding in Yorba Linda on Saturday, fly back to SF that same night, and shoot a second wedding on Sunday. Phew! It was going to be rough but I was really looking forward to it. Until…I got a phone call from the Bride of Sunday’s wedding. She called as I was about to board BART this morning with a slight tone of panic in her voice. This is how it went:

Bride: “Hi! I just wanted to call to give you my cell phone number.”

Me: “Oh great! Thanks!”

Bride: “Uh, I also got your email from last night and was a little confused.” …..
“You wrote ‘See you Sunday’.” ….. “The wedding is on Saturday!!”

Me: “Oh! Why did I think it was Sunday? No problem. I’ll see you Saturday at 11:15 as scheduled. ”

Bride: “OK, I was going to have a panic attack for a second there.”

Me: “No worries. I’ll be there on Saturday.”

I ran onto the train, plopped myself down in the nearest seat, and nearly threw up in my lunchbag. HOW DID I DOUBLE-BOOK MYSELF?!!!! So as I steamed for the 22-minute ride through the tunnel (with no cell-phone reception), I couldn’t help feeling a stream of anxiety, disappointment, and confusion all at the same time. My head was spinning and that felt like the longest BART ride EVAR!! As soon as I got off the train, I ran to the curb for my shuttle, didn’t see it, so I sat down and called the Brother to break the news. He was going to have to fly solo on Saturday and I wasn’t going to be flying down to LA after all. AAAck!

Brother – Thank you for being so understanding. Your sister is a complete idiot. I owe you a fat dinner and trip to Napa Valley.

**If you are a potential client reading my blog, please don’t let this hiccup deter you from considering me as your photographer. Trust me, this was a complete brain fart that will NEVER EVER happen again.

Elephant Brush

I picked up this little guy at a gardening store. It’s perfect for getting crap out of my nails after a messy painting project, after cooking a big meal, or if I’m giving myself a manicure. It’s also an elephant. How awesome is that?!

out and about

Jesse’s been working late for the past 3 weeks and on Saturday, he had to go into the office for the day. So, I spent the day exploring and shopping.

In the morning, I took my first Pilates class. It’s walking distance from my place but I took the bus to save a little time. It pretty much kicked my ass but it was actually pretty fun. There were only 4 in the class (including me) and the instructor is cool. The studio is downstairs from the loft that she lives in so we were technically in her livingroom…interesting. So, for 5 bucks, I got an hour of crazy core strengthening, which I desperately need to keep my back in healthy.

Afterwards, I walked over to Market St., hopped on Muni and got off at Embarcadero for a lunchtime stroll through the Ferry Plaza and Farmers’ Market. I got some really tasty cherries that I hand picked from the pile (so they’re ALL to my liking), a huge bunch of beautiful white flowers, two yummy peaches, and breakfast. I brought my backpack and rigged it so that I didn’t need to carry anything home in my hands. They were all neatly packed, strapped, or hung from my bag. So masterful I am…check it out!

From the Rooftop

Last night AT&T Park had one of their many fireworks displays. I have no idea when or why they have them but when they go off, I get a pretty good view of the show from my rooftop. I tested out my mini tripod and “Fireworks” setting on my digi and was pretty impressed with the results.

Here’s a photo of my side of the building with the ballpark in the background. If our unit was on the other side of the hallway, I would have been able to watch the show from my livingroom window. Instead, I must go to the rooftop patio, which is already pretty cool.

Afterwards, I stayed around to take some cityscape photos, which came out surprisingly well. I just turned it to “Nightscene” mode and voila!

Poor Ducky

I woke up on Wednesday morning to find the aftermath of a massacre that apparently occurred the night before. Poor Ducky Tennis Ball got to’ up! Squeakers are crackalicious for Koa and this ducky didn’t have a fighting chance.

Oh wells…here’s my attempt at getting an “after” photo. Poor Ducky…

Hangin’ with da Catz

On Tuesday night, I went over to the Sokol-Juns to babysit Jack. It was probably the easiest gig I’ve ever had. I arrived at 8 pm and the little man was already asleep. So I plopped myself on the couch and the grown-ups left for their night out sans baby. Ryan even gave me ground rules: 1) no boys and 2) no booze. So I watched the Lakers squeak out a win against the Spurs as the cats lounged out on the rug at my feet. I think I heard one little whimper coming from Jack’s room but it was nothin’. His parents got back around 10-ish and they found me in the same exact spot they left me in…and there were no boys.
