It’s raining!!

Oh man, this is awesome! This morning Pasqual told me that it was raining but I wasn’t so ready to believe him right away.  But now I’m sitting here at my workstation at the hospital staring out of the window watching the rain fall. It’s pouring! This gets me so giddy because that there’s probably snow falling in Tahoe and my sidewalks are getting washed. With last year being so dry and having only about 10 days of rain (if that) last year, this is so refreshing. It’ll just make walking the dog a little interesting. Bring it on!!

cus983.gifEver thought Cerritos was too Asian? Think again. The Economist wrote an article about my beloved hometown and considers it a little slice of America. Hm…interesting.

beakatude is online

dsc_7829.jpgMr. Internet came by today to hook us up. We are now connected and I won’t have to go down to the 4th floor lounge. It’s so nice to be back online.

I also ventured out into the city today to run some errands and rode on the T Train for the first time. There’s a stop right across the street from our condo so for $1.50, I hopped on and got off at Powell St., which is right under the Nordstrom! When all was done, I hopped back on with the same pass and rode back home for free.  Apparently you can ride Muni all you want within a 90-minute window. I also found this site called NextBus, which has real-time predictions of when your next train is expected to arrive. Neato.

My parents are driving up with their mini-van filled with our belongings and Koa. On Thursday, the movers are coming with the rest of our things. I can’t wait to sleep in my own bed again. It’s been over a month now and my back is really paying for it.

Stress Relief

It’s busy season at work and it’s definitely reflected in what I’m watching on TV. A few weeks ago, I was flipping through channels on the TV and found myself waching a full episode of “The Bachelor”. Wha?! Yep, I was watching Andy Baldwin courting four women and actually rooting for Tessa. Sweet. I’ve also been watching “Dancing With the Stars” every Monday and I’ve been pulling for Apolo and Julianne. Boy oh boy…if TiVo tracks my preferred shows, my TiVo “Suggested Shows” folder is going to packed with reality TV for months. Anyway, what I’m getting at is that trashy TV is a great stress reliever. Last week when I was completely stressed out, I came home, turned on my TiVo and vegged out for three hours. I felt SOOOO much better afterwards and slept like a baby.

Oh by the way, Tessa won Andy’s heart and Apolo and Julianne won. Woot! May sweeps rock.

Have you seen this before? I was just surfing and thought I’d give this a shot. Apparently, I have been to 21 out of 50 states (41%). There’s another one where you can check all the countries you’ve been to but I’ve only been to 3 countries including the one I live in…so sad.

Boba Everywhere

I was busy at work this afternoon when I got a call from Marie. She was in the neighborhood and invited me to the local Tapioca Express. Of course I couldn’t resist a boba run so I packed up my stuff and headed down the street.

I ordered the “Spicy Chicken Special” that includes an order of spicy chicken and boba milk tea, which costed 5 bucks. That price doesn’t seem very “special” to me.  I was too lazy to add it up but I bet they only hacked off a couple pennies from the price.  When our number was called, we went to the counter to pick up our drinks. With just 4 or 5 steps away from the counter, I lost my grip and *KAPLOW!* my drink fell on the floor. I don’t know if this has ever happened to you but it’s quite a scene. There in the middle of the cafe was milk tea, ice, and boba everywhere. How embarrassing. Marie and I just stood there so helpless and vulnerable to the stares from the customers waiting in line to order. The guy finally came out and cleaned it up for us but the damage was done.

So, my next question was, “Are they going to make me a new one?” I guess the guy figured that would be the next thing out of my mouth because he looked at me and said “Do you want to order something else? I’ll give you 20% off.” Man! I bet if I was at McDonald’s they’d just make me a new drink. I’ve seen people spill their coffee at the Starbucks and the Barista usually has a new drink for the person before the mopping is done. *sigh* I guess you can’t expect much from a Chinese-owned establishment. All I know is that I made sure to savor my $4.89 boba and sucked up every last squishy ball of goodness.
