Taiko!!!
April is OT Month and every year we spend an afternoon in a team building activity and then finish the day with a dinner.
This year, we went KM’s taiko studio on Thursday for an afternoon of drumming. The group actually made these drums by hand! Amazing.
I had always wanted to try taiko and it was so much fun! We made lots of noise and everyone caught on rather quickly. My T-Rex arms got quite a workout too!

Happy Occupational Therapy Month!!
On Sunday afternoon, I met up with my co-worker, Renee, for our second photoshoot. I guess she loved the photos from 
This time she rented out a dance studio in the Mission for two hours and it was a gorgeous space filled with lots of natural light and had vaulted ceilings.
I rented a strobe kit for the shoot, which helped fill the shadows and helped me capture her poses just right. Here are a few of my favorites so far.
I still have lots of processing to do but I thought I’d do a few tonight.
Today I had the day off to take Kumquat to the doctor. Since the appointment wasn’t until 2pm, we had lots of time to play. In the morning, we went to visit Ranee and Sophie at their new home in Walnut Creek. They have so much space now! Ranee made us breakfast and the babies played on the floor together. Kumquat really liked Sophie’s blocks.
For lunch, I actually went to work. KM makes a sushi lunch for us every year and I wasn’t about to miss it. So, I brought Kumquat with me and Ranee brought Sophie too. We all gathered around the mat and watched the babies play. 
We always think it’s fun to watch normal babies move and play. The food was delicious (as usual) and I got to see Elaine too!
I must say that 2012 was a very good year. I spent the first quarter cookin’ a baby and getting ready for our newest family member.
I also had an awesome month off before Kumquat arrived and spent the last week hanging out with my mom.
Then in April, our lives changed forever when our beautiful baby girl was born.
The rest of Spring and most of Summer was spent at home recovering and learning how to take care of a little human being while keeping up with the daily chores.
Right before going back to work full-time, we took our annual trip to Oahu and baby came along too.
Then it was time to return to work and it was so hard the first week. Eventually, I adjusted and it was nice to have such good friends around. Jes also did a great job as a stay-at-home dad for a month.
In September, we hired Mirian, who has been a wonderful addition to Kumquat’s life. She takes her on outings, reads to her, and kept her on her schedule better than any of us. In fact, Kumquat started sleeping through the night after her first day with Mirian.
Then Fall and Winter arrived and Jason and Jia moved to California! It’s been so fun to have them around and we see them almost every week.
We celebrated all the holidays with our little girl and even took her to Disneyland. It was a busy Christmas trip home but totally worth it.
On Tuesday, we decided to have an impromptu HH at Cato’s on Wednesday. I actually skipped out early at 4 pm to drive home and pick up Kumquat and then drove back to the East Bay for this and it was totally worth the wait in traffic on the way back to the East Bay.
It turned out to be a fun little mini holiday party for us and was just the right combination of people, food, and drinks.
Kumquat was a trooper and was passed from one auntie to another all night while she grubbed on puffs. The girls got a good laugh while she ate her puffs and also blew snot bubbles from her nose. Here’s a 
We were able to stay out until at least 8 pm and my little sidekick rocked it all evening without a single complaint.
I love these ladies and I’m so glad that we were able to hang out and celebrate the end of another year together before going our separate ways for the holidays.
