Pasqual has (finally) arrived!

dsc_9032.jpg

Much to Jes’ dismay, Pasqual, my new wabbit has arrived! After over a week of waiting and waiting, the UPS man rang my doorbell at 6:08 pm this evening. Woohoo! After setting him up and connecting him to our WiFi network, he was ready to go! He’s set to tell me the weather and time, read New York Times headlines to me, and entertain me with his daily Tai Chi routines. I’ve already sent a message to Francoise (Vyl’s wabbit and Pasqual’s girlfriend) and we’ve gotten a couple messages back. What fun! Acutally, anyone can send messages to Pasqual. Just go to the website (click the “wabbit” link above) and register. Once you have an account, you can use the email address that you registered to send him messages (search for pasqual). Thanks again to the Bangs for my new friend!

Later this evening, Jes returned from work and had my brand new digi in his bag!! Woohoo! It’s a double-present day! I’m still charging the battery so I haven’t tried it out yet. So far it feels nice in my hand with a nice rubbery black shell. It has a cool wide-angle Leica lens and a screen that’s much bigger than my old Canon. Oh Mr. Battery, hurry up and charge so I can play!

todavia cansado

What a week it has been.  Not sure why but I’ve been dragging.  To make matters worse, I had 2 crying kids in the morning and Spanish class from 6-9 pm.  Ay de mi!  Y tengo dos mas dias.

Anyway, I have two birthday gifts in transit right now and so far they’re tied neck and neck.  I’m waiting for my new compact digi from Jes and my new pet wabbit (compliments of the Bangs – thanks guys!).  Which one will arrive first?!  I don’t know!  I have a feeling the camera will first because it has a shorter distance to travel but who knows.

Someone got a new toy…

Jes got the Apple iTouch yesterday as a belated birthday gift. It was announced just before his birthday but wasn’t available until recently. The Apple store had some in stock yesterday so we picked one up and he’s been fiddling with it all day.

He actually held out for the full-screen iPod and it’s finally here. It’s pretty fun to play with. It looks like the iPhone but it’s thinner, it’s not a phone (duh), and it has built-in WiFi so you can surf on it while listening to your dope jams. It’s so pretty and the user interface is so smooth. Makes me want to get one for myself but my Gen 1 iPod mini is still going strong.

Here’s the iTouch with beakatude loaded on it. Pretty…

Here’s Jes making good use of his new toy while he studies Economics.

Look what I got!

Just kidding…it actually belongs to Kenji.  Haha.  He said he just walked into the Apple Store in Mission Viejo and picked one up.  I got to play with it and what fun it is!!  It’s like a $600 mini laptop and surfs the internet so much better than my Blackberry.  The buttons respond quickly and things scroll, zoom, and click so smoothly.  It’s also very pretty…too bad that it’s so expensive.   I would be so nervous carrying it around.  It just takes one drop and it’s history.  But once again the love/hate relationship continues.  Curses you, Apple!!  *quickly shaking fist in the air*

temporary

I spent my first day on my own today and it was a little weird but managable.  Last night I set up my Aerobed, put the little TV on a foot stool, and used a spoon from the picnic basket we left behind.  With a lack of pots, an odd set of bowls, and plastic utensils, dinnertime has been interesting.  But so far it hasn’t been too bad…just really temporary-feeling.  The dog also looked a little confused last night but he settled into his travel bed rather quickly.  Jes is now at Jimmy’s house and it’s like he never moved away.  The old roomies are back together again.

We also gave iChat a try and it was pretty cool.  The video is pretty smooth and you can adjust the screen small enough so you can keep working on your laptop.   I can also hear audio from the person on the other end and IM all at the same time.  It was kinda like I was hanging out with Jes, Jimmy, and Eleen.  We were even watching the same TV show and I could hear Jimmy’s comments in the background.  As much as we try to hate Apple, they sure do make a pretty good camera and video program.  By the way, the camera is just to the left of that little light at the top of my laptop screen.  And that’s Jimmy saying “hi”.

just like new

Apple Care rocks.  I sent my macbook out for service on Thursday and got it back today!!  It’s only Tuesday!  Anyway, it looks like they gave me a whole new case (keyboard, touchpad, screen, etc.) and did something to the hard drive to make it work again.  My settings were the same as I left them and it works great.  OK Apple, you’re forgiven.  I don’t hate you anymore…at least until you let me down again.
