OMG.

I love sea otters.  I want to take this guy home and keep him in my bathtub.

Awkwardly Awesome

On Saturday night, Brother and Joy offered to take me along for a foot massage in San Gabriel.  For a 25-minute drive and $15 plus tip, I got a full-body, fully-clothed massage and it was awesome.

At first, when I walked in I said to Joy, “this is kinda weird”.  She chuckled and said, “don’t worry”.  They have an open room filled with over-sized barca loungers that are super squishy and flatten out all the way.  There were probably 15 of them all next to each other and it was packed!  AND it was 9 pm!  Surprisingly, it was really quiet inside too!

When it was my turn, I sat down and got to dunk my feet in a hot bucket of water.  The lady flattened out my chair and I got a face and scalp massage first and then she stretched out my arms.  My feet and legs were next and she used some crazy accupressure on the bottom of my feet and my legs got moisterized and massaged at the same time.  This would have been great after a run!  Then I had to flip over onto my stomach and I got a comfy blanket.  She massaged my neck and back and found some crazy knots in my shoulders.

It’s amazing how strong she was since I was fully dressed AND had a blanket over me and I was still wincing at certain moments.  They also do the whacking type of massage on your back all the way down to the top of your butt.  At the end, I got a “Whap Whap!” on my butt and she said, “All done!” At first, I was confused and told my brother.  He had just finished too and said, “Yeah, I got that too.”  Haha.

I’d go back again.  And no, they don’t give “Happy Endings”.

Lazy

We had a super lazy day today.  I got up at 9:30 and lazied around until about 11 to walk the dog.  Poor dog.  Around 3:00, we finally changed out of our PJs and headed out to the dry cleaners and then had some lunch.  We walked down to The Creamery, which is just down the street but we never considered trying it until today.  I don’t usually blog about salads but I really enjoyed my hipster lunch.  Mine was the baby arugula fresh mozzerella and tomato salad and Jes had the salmon crepe.

Afterward, we went home and watched the last half of the first season of Glee.  I just started watching this season’s episodes and found Season 1 on Netflix.  So, Jes and I watched the entire season on our DVD that streams “Watch Instantly” material.  Yep, Jes likes Glee.  Heh heh.  It makes sense.  He can actually hold a tune (unlike Brother and I) and has said that some of their versions are better than the originals.

For dinner, Jes smoked up the house while cooking the prime ribeye that we bought last weekend.  It had been thawing in the fridge all week and was finally ready to cook before rotting.  It was tasty and dog got a tasty snack too.

Wednesday nights

“Top Chef Season 8: All Stars” started last Wednesday and Brother decided to do a Fantasy Top Chef draft.  There are 4 of us playing: Brother, Joy, my friend Teresa, and yours truly.  We each have 4 chefs on our team and our chefs score 5 points for winning an elimination challenge, 3 for a quickfire win, 1 for cursing, and 1 for crying.  My team consists of Angelo, Spike, Jennifer, and Fabio.  So far Angelo has been pulling through for me with two Elimination Challenge wins while Jennifer just got kicked off tonight.  Fortunately she still scored me 2 points for cursing and crying on her way out the door.

It’s been fun watching this group of chefs again and it’s even more fun watching it every Wednesday night with the family over video chat.  Brother bought Joy a new macbook so we’ve been able to use iChat and we get to call out who’s cursing while posting up the scores live with shared Google Docs.  I [heart] technology.

Aw!!!

Susie sent this to me today and I couldn’t help sharing.  Now I KNOW that I can have a pet elephant. Thanks, Susie!!
