Creative and kinda Crazy

(click on image for movie trailer)

For those of you who know me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE “My Neighbor Totoro“.  Well, last summer, Miyazaki released a new movie called “Ponyo” and I FINALLY got to watch it.  It came in the mail today and I watched it right away with such delight.  I sat on the couch in my PJs with a blanket on my lap and a frozen strawberry bar in hand and felt like I was 5 again.  I had no idea what to expect of the movie since the trailer makes it look a little creepy but it was so much more fun and was a little crazy at the same time.  In the same “Totoro” style, there’s an intermingling of reality and fantasy and a lot of innocence.  On top of that, I absolutely adore hand-drawn animation and Miyazaki is THE best. Ah…I can go to bed happy now.

Wolf Moon

When I stepped out of the building to walk the dog last night, I was greeted by a big bright moon. I don’t think it was at it’s fullest (actual day is 1/29/10) but it might as well have been. It looked so cool behind the baseball stadium.  I saw on the news that farmers call this a “Wolf Moon” because it’s bigger and brighter and occurs in January.

When I arrived at the docks (Koa’s usual pee spot), I shot this one. The lights were on in the stadium because they were setting up for the motocross event this weekend and made for a really cool shot of the moon behind the boats and water. I simply set the camera to ISO 800 and snapped. I love taking photos at night when there’s a full moon. You should try it out sometime!

Buon giorno…buon giorno…

Italy Rail Map

It’s been a crazy few months at work and I’ve accrued enough PTO for a 10-day vacation. So, as soon as I got the days approved I started planning and have decided to go to Italy in early September!!! Yay!! I’ve never been to Europe before so I’ve had to do a lot of research. With some tracking over that past few weeks, I decided to book our flights tonight. We will be flying from SF to Rome, travel up the coast through different cities by train (Can we say EUROTRIP?!) and fly home through Milan. Woowoo!! Once we figure out our itinerary, I will be sure to share. I’m hoping to visit Rome, Florence, Pisa, Turin, and Milan in 10 days. Can I do it?! Can I do it?! If any of you out there have any suggestions, I’m totally open.

Oh and Rest in Peace, MJ.

What to do? What to do???

I’m in the market for a new phone and can’t seem to decide.  Already have AT&T so the inevitable will be the Apple iPhone 3GS.  BUT the Palm Pre looks really cool too but I’d have to switch to Sprint.  Hm…

Found this flowchart from Gizmodo.  Didn’t really help but it was fun to go through all the choices.  This article was also interesting.  I’m so confused.  Someone help!!!

WOOOOOOO!!!

Lakers flag

I could practically taste the win this afternoon but I was also afraid that I’d have to return to Pete’s on Tuesday.  We’ve spent the last 4 games at Pete’s drinking pitchers of Coors light and we were in need of a major detox.  At 3 pm, Susie, Victor, and Tinou snagged 4 tables in our usual spot and I showed up around 3:30 and helped make our group look a little bigger.  Tip-off wasn’t until 5:00 so we were a little nervous about the post-Giants game crowd giving us the stink-eye.  Eventually the rest of our group arrived and we were large enough to fill up the space.  There was also a super obnoxious guy across the way yelling “GO FLORIDA!”.  We kept our cool through the first quarter and once we tied up the score, he suddenly shut up.  Ah…peace and quiet.

Back to Back

It was great having everyone together for the game and Jimmy even wore his “Back to Back” shirt.

Number One

I also had my 2000 NBA Champions shirt that I believe has brought us luck.

It’s hard being a Laker fan in SF but it makes every win that much more satisfying.  By the 4th quarter, we had a commanding lead and won the NBA Championship.  We busted out the foam fingers and Lakers flag and had celebratory Kamikaze shots all around as the Bay Area/Anti-Lakers crowd headed out of the bar.

Group Shots

Great job, Lakers.  6th Man was behind you all the way.

Here are the photos from this eventful evening.
