Dat da da DA!

iPhone back

This afternoon, I bit the bullet and got myself an Apple iPhone 3GS!  I’ve been using a Crackberry for years and I have the same excited nervousness that I had when I bought my first Macbook.  Did I make the right move?  Will I miss the Crackberry?

I can still remember when the Gen 1 iPhone came out and Kenji went out and bought one.  It was so pretty but didn’t do much back then.  Later, Jes got an iTouch and I was amazed.  Three generations later, I decided to give it a try and the transition to the iPhone was painless at the Apple Store, of course with the exception of handing over the credit card.   In a matter of minutes, I was activated and out the door with a new toy that was ready to go.

apps

I went home and downloaded a bunch of free apps that I’m going to try out for the next few weeks.  There are some things that I’ll have to get used to like typing on the screen and trying not to drop it.

However, it’s so fun to be able to surf the internet without having to wait a million years for pages to load and being able to access full webpages without the phone crashing or giving up.  Get ready for more on-the-go blogging, tweeting, and maybe even video posts!!  Here I go!!

P.S. Sorry for the sucky photos.  The lighting in this house at night is not very flattering.

What to do? What to do???

I’m in the market for a new phone and can’t seem to decide.  Already have AT&T so the inevitable will be the Apple iPhone 3GS.  BUT the Palm Pre looks really cool too but I’d have to switch to Sprint.  Hm…

Found this flowchart from Gizmodo.  Didn’t really help but it was fun to go through all the choices.  This article was also interesting.  I’m so confused.  Someone help!!!

I miss Maui.

snorkeling

It’s been almost a whole week since we left the island and all I have are my photos to keep me going. I miss the sunshine, beautiful water, tasty eats, and time to do absolutely nothing. Here are the photos that I’ll be staring at for the next few months until my next vacation.

And by the way, I still don’t have a phone.

Disconnected

Dude, lost my phone at the beach…at night…searched and searched with no luck. Don’t be surprised if a sea turtle crank calls you.

Time for an upgrade!!

After 2.5 years of abuse, my white Gen One MacBook will be getting a little rest.  Last week, I was in the middle of surfing the internet when my MacBook decided to give up on me.  It just shut down for no reason.  So, I pushed the power button and it tried and tried to start up again but just couldn’t boot up.  I thought it was because it ran out of battery power but nope, it was plugged in.  Boo….

So, I gave it a rest, turned it back on, and it started working again!  Sweet!  That following weekend I took it with me to Phoenix and as I was using it on the plane (not plugged in of course), it died within a matter of 7 minutes!!  What the heck?!

Last night, we went to the Apple Store to see what could be done and I guess the battery was just plain dead.  We purchased a new battery for $125 and I ended up taking home a brand new MacBook Pro too!!  Woohoo!!!  I had contemplated an upgrade a while back but decided that I could wait.  About 6 months later, I am now an owner of my second mac.  It’s bigger, brighter, faster, and oh so pretty.  Merry Christmas to me!

I was also surprised at how simple it was to migrate the entire contents of my old harddrive to the new one.  It only took an ethernet cable and a couple clicks of the mouse to get me up and running.  I didn’t need to reinstall applications.  I didn’t even need to reset my desktop image.  Amazing.
